Wired ebook readers redefines reading experience by putting both virtual library and bookstore into your hands.

Electronic book readers are designed to hold your books and take reading to a whole new level of portability and ease. Some e-readers even take it to a step further; by adding 3G or WiFi connectivity to the device, users don’t only have a virtual library but a one-stop shopping for books as well. Here are some of the best ebook readers with wireless capability.

1. Amazon Kindle

Amazon was the first to come out with an ebook reading device that allows users to browse, shop, purchase, or download content directly from their device. Kindle’s wireless technology named Whispernet enables users to users to pull e-books from the Amazon store in less than a minute directly into the e-book reader; no need to plug the device to PC. Users can also receive copies of The New York Times, TIME, Le Monde, and The Irish Times or other US or international newspapers and magazines on a subscription basis. 500 blogs are updated in real time.

With Kindle's integrated 3G transmission over Sprint network, there’s no need to hunt for WiFi hotspots. The device has coverage in most states in the US and in more than 100 countries worldwide. Those looking forward to browse search engines, watch YouTube, or chat online may be a bit disappointed. Kindle is oriented towards text-focused sites such as WikiTravel and Wikepedia.

Use of Whispernet is free. Unfortunately, not all areas are covered by Whispernet services. Those in Montana and Nevada will not be able to enjoy Kindle’s wireless benefits.

2. Barnes & Noble’s Nook

Like Amazon's Kindle, Barnes and Noble's electronic book reader has integrated 3G modem. It enables users to shop and download books, magazines, newspapers, and other content from the Barnes and Nobles store. 3G network connection is also free, and users are not required to fill a wireless contract or pay wireless fees. In addition to 3G, the Nook has complimentary WiFi connection, which enables users to browse, shop, and download books instantly when inside Barnes and Nobles stores. The Nook is powered by AT&T.

3. Sony Daily Touch Edition Reader

The Daily Touch Edition Reader caps the Sony Ereader series. It offers what the earlier Sony readers didn't have: wireless connectivity. The 7-inch touch-responsive device comes with 3G broadband modem powered by AT&T. Users can access the Sony Store anywhere in the US, whether they’re in the back of a taxi or inside the comfort of their home. In addition to ebooks, periodicals, and magazines, users also receive daily blog updates and RSS feeds.

4. IREX DR800SG

Irex DR800SG may not be the most enticing name for an e-reader, but it certainly is one of the most advanced e-readers around. The 8.1-inch device is powered by Qualcomm Gobi wireless. When in the US, the device accesses content from the Barnes and Nobles store, Newspaper Direct, and LibreDigital over Verizon Wireless network. IREX DR800SG also has HSPA data, allowing the device to switch to GSM 3G when owner is traveling abroad.

Electronic book readers with wireless capability generally come with a higher price tag than ebook readers with no 3G or WiFi connection. If shelling out a few bucks more is not an issue, an e-reader that holds both library and book store can certainly take you to a whole new level of e-reading experience.
